On Saturday, February 7, 2026, CALS members provided advanced life support coverage in the county, supporting career EMS units during an extreme cold event. M101, staffed by Safety Officer McKeever, and Command 10, staffed by Chief 10, were on duty in the Prince Frederick area.
Calvert volunteers responded to multiple calls related to trees down in roadways and reports of trees falling into houses. At approximately 10:30 a.m., Calvert Control received an alert for a working house fire in the Prince Frederick area.
Chief 10 was near the location of the call and responded from Sixes Road and Route 4. Chief 10 was the first to arrive on scene and reported smoke showing from the roofline of a two-story single-family dwelling. As Chief 10 assessed the situation, several units from the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department arrived and began extinguishing the fire.
Chief 10 reported to command that there was heavy fire on the rear side of the structure with extension to the second floor and attic. Additional companies arrived quickly and assisted with the firefighting efforts. Fire crews were able to control the fire despite challenging conditions caused by extreme cold and high winds.
Chief 10 remained on scene with Ambulance 204, providing EMS coverage for firefighters as they worked the incident.
