At 7:00 a.m. this morning, Calvert Communications received several calls reporting a serious vehicle accident on Route 4 northbound at Shekells Road. Initial reports indicated that three to four vehicles were involved, with one vehicle possibly on fire and two individuals potentially trapped.
Chief 5 was the first to arrive on scene, confirming that there was no fire, but two people were still inside their vehicles. Shortly after, Chief 10 arrived and began to assess and triage the patients at the scene. Chief 10 evaluated three patients and began working with Ambulance 68 and its patient.
PA205 arrived within minutes and started providing care to another seriously injured patient. Additional response units, including Medic 105 (PMIC Livingston), Car 10 (PMIC Cobb), and EMS 20D, also responded to assist.
Medics worked together to treat two patients with serious injuries, both of whom were transported by MSP Trooper 2 helicopter to a regional trauma center.
