At approximately 1700 hrs on Sunday afternoon CALS and Solomons units were dispatched to the report of a serious dirtbike accident behind an address on Millbridge drive. M103 (PMIC Bento, Intern Mumper) and CHF10 (Shannon) marked up from the office in Prince Frederick. M102 (PMIC Co.Shannon) happened to be in the area when the call was dispatched and responded to the scene. Enroute to the call units were updated that the patient was approx an 8th of a mile behind the residence and that the gator from co.3 was being dispatched. Units from Co.3 and M102 arrived on scene within minutes and started their trek back into the woods. As all medic units are 4x4, M102 drove as far back as they could get before going on foot. Providers reached the patient and confirmed a young male with serious lower extremity injuries. Providers began treatment and packaging in the woods. MSP aviation had been alerted early on in the call and was overhead when providers had just started to package the patient. Instead of using the Helipad at the Navy Rec Center a decision was made to land the helicopter at the edge of the forest in a horse pen a close to scene as possible. Units from Solomons and the medic unit worked well together to treat, package and transport the patient from the wooded area out to the flight crew at the horse pen. The patient was quickly loaded into the waiting helicopter and transported to PG trauma.
