In the early morning of September 18th, CALS was dispatched to a residence in White Sands for an adult male patient who had reportedly been assaulted. Medic 102 (Lt. Bishop) arrived on scene to find a patient that was extremely intoxicated and fell 10 feet down a ravine behind the house. A Medevac was requested due to the patients injuries and MSP Trooper 7 was dispatched.

While enroute to the landing site, the patient's breathing worsened and he developed a tension pneumothorax with severe tracheal deviation. Lt. Bishop performed a needle decompression mid-transport, and re-inflated the patient's collapsed lung as Ambulance 78 was arriving at the landing site. He was flown to Prince George's Hospital Center by MSP Trooper 7, and hospitalized for further treatment.
