On August 3, 2025, 8-year-old twins Ivar and Norah witnessed their mom having a seizure. Norah quickly told Ivar to call 911. While Norah stayed with her two younger siblings, Ivar ran out and got a neighbor to help them call 911. They were able to help their neighbor answer all of the questions the dispatcher had. When Paramedic Kreider and Paramedic Elliott arrived, they were met by Ivar, Norah, and their neighbor. They helped answer questions and entertain their younger siblings until their dad arrived home.

Paramedic Kreider nominated Ivar and Norah for the Maryland EMSC “Right Care When it Counts” award. This award recognizes children and youth in Maryland who have demonstrated the correct steps to take in an emergency. Ivar and Norah did just that.

This week is EMS Week. Today, Norah and Ivar were recognized for their efforts at the MIEMSS Region V Awards held at the Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters. Paramedic Kreider and Paramedic Elliott were able to attend and congratulate the twins. Calvert ALS is so proud of these kids and their efforts to help those around them!
