At 18:32 on Saturday, March 21, Calvert Advanced Life Support was dispatched to assist a person who had lost consciousness in Huntingtown. M-105 was the first unit to arrive at the scene. Paramedic PMIC Robert Schapiro found a patient lying face-up on a down-sloped driveway, responsive only to painful stimuli and bleeding from the head. No witnesses or family members were present.

PMIC Schapiro immediately requested support from a second paramedic and an engine company, then began assessing the patient for life-threatening injuries. Within a few minutes, he determined the patient required air transport and requested a MEDEVAC for a Priority 1, Category A case. Maryland State Police Aviation was assigned and advised a 20-minute estimated arrival time for the landing zone.

PMIC Schapiro transferred care of the patient to Maryland State Police personnel, and the patient was transported by MEDEVAC to the Shock Trauma Center.
