As cold weather continues to grip the region, ALS volunteers responded to several high-priority medical emergencies today. Incidents included two cardiac arrests, as well as multiple patient flyouts to hospitals. On every call, paramedics encountered hazardous icy conditions that required quick thinking and careful strategies to ensure patients could be safely transported to waiting ambulances.

Given the seriousness of today’s incidents, several calls involved multiple ALS units working together at the scene. The following medics were instrumental in providing care under challenging circumstances:

PMIC Harrison Fleming, M101

Captain Tim Farr, Utility 10

Assistant Chief Austin Lavigne, Utility 10A

PMIC Emily Richardson, M20

EMS Lieutenant Ashely Combs, EMS20A

Units: M101, UT10, UT10A, CMD10, M20, EMS20A
