CALS Medics Assist with Officer and Suspect Shot During Chase

At approximately 2150 hrs M104 (A. Weiss) was returning from a call and was on Rt-4 southbound in the Huntingtown area when he heard an emergency call on the police side stating an officer had just been shot. M104 immediately did a U-turn and responded towards the injured officer. By chance M104 was less than half a mile from the shooting scene and was on scene and able to provide immediate care to injured officer within minutes of him being shot. The injured officer was quickly loaded into an ambulance from the Huntingtown VFD and transported was immediately initiated. Calvert PA246, M105 (S.Fitzgerald) ,EMS20, CHF20, CHF10 all responded towards the scene and the Huntingtown VFD where units were staging per police. Police searched the area of the "bailout" and located the suspect who was injured. Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriffs office loaded the suspect into a truck and drove him down from the scene to Rt-4/Old Town rd where several EMS units were waiting. The suspect was treated and then moved to Huntingtown High School where he was medevac 'd to a local trauma center.
