The day after Halloween should have been a nice relaxing day for our medic (PMIC McCloskey) but it turned out to be anything but. It all began in the early hours of November with a subject that jumped from a moving car. This patient was a pri-1 CAT-A and had to be RSI'ed on scene by the crew from MSP Trooper 2. The night continued with an anaphalactic patient as well as a sepsis alert. After a little sleep the medic was back up for a pediatric long fall that luckily turned out to be not injured. The day continued at a steady pace and in the early evening hours companies from the North Beach area were alerted for a working house fire in North Beach. Due to our high call volume AACoFD PM42 handled the fire stand-by which turned out to be a fatal fire. Just as units were returning to quarters from that fire a 2nd fire in the North Beach area was dispatched, this time the fire was reported as a kitchen fire that was out but with the homeowner burned. The CALS medic (still McCloskey) arrived and assessed 2 victims that needed to be transported to local burn center. Approx 2 hours after that call the medic unit was dispatched to the St.Leonard area for a report of 3 people trapped inside of a vehicle after a rollover, thankfully again all 3 occupants were found to be uninjured once removed from the vehicle by Squad 7. The medic returned to quarters for a well earned rest and was able to get a good night sleep until early the next morning when he was dispatched for the male subject with a self-inflicted GSW to the chest. This patient was quickly packaged by crews from the medic unit and co.6 and flown to a local trauma center by MSP Trooper 2.
