Calvert ALS is looking for a few good men and women to compliment our current 100% volunteer chase car system. That's right- 100% VOLUNTEER chase car system.

Our County is located only 46 miles from DC and only 55 miles from Baltimore. Our ALS units cover 219 square miles with a population of over 85k. We are bordered by the Chesapeake Bay on the east and the Patuxent River on the west and south. The county is nine miles wide at its widest point and 35 miles from top to bottom. We are one of the FINAL 100% Volunteer counties in the State of Maryland and run over 300 calls a month. HELP US KEEP IT VOLUNTEER!

Name your own shifts! - Because we are 100% Volunteer, we have a built in "on/off" switch that allows us to name our own shifts!

Ever ride in a Medevac Helicopter? - We have one rural hospital, so all bad traumas are flown out & often MSP takes our medics in the chopper to assist with patient care. Now when has your current job offered you that?

Water Rescues - We are a "tourist haven" with water on 3 sides. Ever been on a Rescue Boat? You will get your chance here.

Transport times that allow you to be the medic you were trained to be! - Remember, we cover 219 square miles, some of our transport times are over twenty-five minutes to the nearest hospital!

A hug - When is the last time a patient's family member did that? It's all about the compassion of volunteerism, my friend!

A great group of members from 5 states - All of them, full of war stories and a common goal to save lives & who would love to look upon you as a member of their team.

Duty Requirements: Primary MD affiliation - 24 hours per month, secondary MD affiliation - 8 hours per month.

Vehicles: We have 5 ALS equipped 4-wheel drive suburban-style chase vehicles.

Extras: We have a freezer fill of TV dinners, uniforms, wide screen cable TV, plenty of local restaurants, wireless internet, air-conditioned quarters, dedicated game room with a nintendo Wii, workout equipment, pool table, and enough computers for everyone to have one.

Meeting Nights (Optional): Second Sunday of each month at 1900 (7:00pm) hours. Drill normally precedes meeting at 1800 (6:00pm) hours.

Benefits: Calvert ALS will pay for various training conferences such as EMS Care, Pyramid, etc. up to a set amount. Income tax subtraction modification for qualified members up to $3,500.00. LOSAP benefits for MD residents. Paid ALS training for EMT-B's with 2 year signed service agreement.
