CALS is pleased to announce that as of 11/12/2018 all of our units are carrying the "Cyanokit" aka hydroxocobalamin. This medication is critical in the lifesaving efforts for anybody that has been removed from an environment that was full of smoke and are now unconscious ie: house fires. and is the only antidote for a cyanide poisoning. The faster this medication can be administered the higher the survival rates are for the patient. Due to our County's unique geography CALS did not want patient's to have to wait until they arrived at the local ER before being able to receive this lifesaving medication. This medication is incredibly expensive for each individual does (above $1000 a dose) but thanks in part to the Calvert County BOCC's continued financial support of our organization we were able to purchase this medication for each of our trucks.
