CALS Responds Mutual Aid to St.Marys for a School Shooting

At approx 0805 this morning Calvert Control received a mutual aid request from St.Mary's county for Solomons A38 for a reported school shooting in Great Mills. Chief 10 at home in the CRE read the comments on active911 and added himself to the call with Solomons A38. Enroute to St.Marys County Chief10 was contacted by St.Mary's ALS Chief Harrison to confirm that he was enroute as an ALS provider. Unsure on how many patients were affected by this tradgedy and knowing how busy St.Mary's County can be on a regular basis Chief 10 requested two more ALS chase units from Calvert County to respond to St.Mary's county. Approximately 2 miles from the scene Chief10 and St.Mary's ALS 2 were requested by EMS command to respond to the St.Mary's ER to assist with incoming patients. M104 (Chief 10C Davies) and CMD 10 (Capt 10B Wall) verified adequate coverage in Calvert County and proceeded to St.Mary's County. Chief 10 arrived at St.Marys hospital ER and checked in with nursing staff who confirmed they did want the additional ALS resources standing by should the ER receive several injured patients. St.Mary's ALS 2 and Chief 10 staged at the ER and assisted crews who brought in two patients. Once it was confirmed that there were only 3 patients total, M104 and CMD10 were told to remain in St.Mary's county and provide ALS coverage while the crews that responded to the incident had a chance to regroup. Chief 10, ALS 2 and the St.Mary's volunteer EMS Chief (Davidson) worked together to coordinate standby crews and coverage for St.Mary's County while many of their EMS units were committed to this incident. PMIC (A.Freeman) who lives in St.Mary's County coordinated meeting up with CMD10 so they would have 2 ALS providers in one truck. CALS stayed in St.Marys County from 0900 until 1400 this afternoon providing ALS coverage while at the same time M102 (PMIC Katzer) and M105 (Chief 10A Stockton) remained in Calvert providing ALS coverage. While in St.Mary's County CALS responded to two ALS calls for service.
