Tonight several members of CALS hit the streets to protect the smallest members in our community and help the Calvert County Sheriff's office make sure Halloween in Calvert County is a safe event. PMIC J.Steere and Chief 10B Sturmer took trucks to cover calls while Chief 10 and Captain 10B K.Jura took units to go and sit in busy trick or treating areas. For the past several years CALS has given out candy and posted in busy trick or treating areas of the county. Many times our presence alone with lights flashing is enough to remind drivers to slowdown. Capt Jura covered the "Richfield Station" neighbourhood in North Beach while Chief 10 covered a special Trunk or treat event at the CRE campground then the rest of the night was spent at "Cove Point Woods". Between both trucks 18 bags of candy were distributed to our smallest residents. We are happy to report that no calls for injured trick or treaters were received during our standby coverage. CALS would like to thank the many kind residents of our communities that thanked us for being out and visible in the community to make their Halloween safe.
